The Press Club

What an indulgent experience!  We could not go to Melbourne without going to have the degustation (Kerasma) tasting at The Press Club, owned by George Calombaris.  5 star menu, 5 star service, 5 star surroundings.  This is an experience to experience.  But lets go back to the beginning.   

We made a reservation at the Press Club through the web and as we were booking so late our reservation was not till 9pm on a Saturday.  During Saturday we did receive a call from The Press Club asking if we wanted to arrive earlier, which we declined.  The weekend menu at the restaurant is as we said a degustation tasting menu.

When we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted by a very well presented and spoken waiter.  We were taken to our table which as well set.  We felt like kings.  We opted not to receive the menu for the evening and the only menu we had was a drinks menu.  The waiter explained to us how the evening would work and explained about the drinks options.  We opted to have our meal accompanied with specially selected wines.

Yes it is a pricey experience, but well worth the 3 hours of being taken on a culinary food journey of George’s take on modern Greek cuisine.  If there are things to your dislike on the menu, they will happily substitute and can substitute for any allergies as well.  I won’t post the menu, because if you are like us we didn’t look at the menu and were surprised by the 13 courses put in front of us, and each explained by your personal waiter.

Each accompanying beverage was also explained by the waiters.  Their knowledge they passed on about everything made our evening even more enjoyable.

But be quick we were told they are going to be doing a revamp and change things up a bit by the end of the year, which is I am sure going to be amazing.

Fri – Sat:  12pm – 10.30pm
Sun:  Closed
